Man this place is good! My husband and I have wanted to try it for ages and finally picked up dinner from there tonight. I drove to their physical location which is currently inside Ted and Wally's in Benson. We ordered way too much food but there were several things we wanted to try and honestly, there is nothing that I am sad I ordered.
My favorite was the Fried Okra. My grandma was born and raised in the south and made fried okra fresh from her garden every summer. This had the same flavor as hers and brought back some great memories. Absolute perfection!
We also wanted to try the Jambalaya so we got a side of it. It was phenomenal! It was the best
Jambalaya we have had outside of Louisiana. It had a little spice, great flavor, and the perfect amount of sausage.
I ordered the Cajun Shrimp Po' Boy for my main. I have a bit of an obsession with po' boy's and this one did not disappoint. So tasty!
My husband ordered the chicken bites and luckily I had a taste of one. Wow, so yummy! Wonderfully spiced with a crispy crunch on the outside while the chicken was still tender and juicy on the inside.
Overall it was a solid meal! We are sad we haven't had this in our lives earlier, but we will make up for lost time and go back again soon.
Cass B.My daughter and I randomly came across this food truck while shopping at Hobby Lobby. She begged to stop by because she was shocked to see something that reminded her of home. We are Louisiana transplants who have been in Omaha just under 2 years.
After reviewing the menu we decided on a catfish plate, loaded cajun fries and beignets. Everything was flavorful and cooked well. Tasted like something we would get back home from a hole in the wall type establishment. We ordered and the food only took about ten minutes to be cooked. We were even gifted a Who Dat punch which my daughter was thrilled about.
We will definitely be back as I am interested to try some of their not fried items.
Shelbie J.I tried them at the Ted & Wallys location ! Great people ! Great food just like home ! Amazing food! A must try ! So glad they are here
Marley C.A 25-minite wait and the line hasn't moved. They surely must have known what a "lunch rush" is. But it looks like they were unprepared. I know from experience that the food is great. But we certainly didnt have unlimited time on our lunch break and had to give up. Will not try this food truck again for lunch! Maybe will try them for dinner sometime when we have the time to spare and can wait forever for food.
Update: I also left a comment on their Facebook page, and they gave me a very nice, thoughtful response. I now have the owner's phone number and was invited to call ahead with my order so they can have it ready for me when I arrive. I'm so pleased! This is one of my favorite food trucks ever, and with this sort of responsive customer service, I have every reason to HIGHLY recommend A Taste of New Orleans. Try their Loaded Cajun Fries--grilled chicken with some of the best cajun fries you'll ever eat.
Melissa A.I have had my eye on this food truck for some time now. Where I work, the cafeteria left at the end of September, so that left me wanting new options. A Taste of New Orleans did not disappoint.
Note: I was raised in the south, so this cuisine greatly appeals to me.
I had the catfish and a mix of fried okra and fried mushrooms. Kudos to the person taking my order, because I wanted both okra and mushrooms without buying two sides. When I asked to have a mix of both, she said yes. I'm glad I did, because they sure are tasty! The catfish was tender, yet flavorful. The fries were excellent, with good flavor. That's a stark contrast to Five Guys fries which have ZERO flavor.
I with they had dessert available, but they did not have it today.
In all, I really enjoyed the food. If and when they come back, I'll be eating here again.
